Volunteer for Cape Town 2010
What are the current volunteer needs? We are very thankful that you are interested in volunteering with the Third Lausanne Congress at Cape Town 2010. At this time we have enough people who have offered their help to the committees involved in the planning of the Congress. However, we are still in need of younger volunteers as stewards to serve the Congress participants and staff and we would love to have them come from many different countries. Stewards are general helpers who will be assigned to a number of different positions, according to the needs determined by the Steward Manager. These positions may include assisting with hospitality, catering, ushering, typing and hotel oversight, for example. Stewards need to arrive on Oct. 11th for orientation and training and will be leaving on Oct. 26th. Stewards will be sleeping in dormitory-style housing, will have their meals provided, and will have local transportation handled for them; these are all included in the steward registration fee of $1275 US. Airfare to Cape Town is not included and must be paid for separately. If you would like to be considered to come as a steward, please fill in the online application by following the link provided. Why volunteer? As with past Lausanne Congresses (1974 in Switzerland and 1989 in the Philippines), we are seeking volunteers from around the world to serve the Congress and help in all aspects of the work. Volunteers play a significant role in the Congress by volunteering their time, talents, and abilities. Volunteer duties include assisting the staff with administration support, communication of information, coordination of projects, I.T. support, and translation to name just a few. (Learn More) What qualificiations do I need?We are seeking spiritually mature volunteers who have a passion for world evangelization and who are willing to commit a portion of their time and talents in service to Christian leaders from around the world. Volunteers need to be proficient in English. What can I expect to experience?Cape Town 2010 offers you an unprecedented opportunity to meet believers who are on “the front lines” of ministry serving the Lord in other parts of the world and in different cultures. We believe the friendships you’ll develop with staff, participants and other volunteers, the ability to network with other believers who share your passion to make a difference in the world, the opportunity to pray with, serve and learn with others will significantly enrich your own life and ministry. What will it cost? For planning purposes, please be aware that there are costs involved should you be selected to volunteer at the Congress. We are expecting that you pay for:
For international volunteers, depending on your travel and accommodations choices, your minimum cost will vary between US$ 2000 and US$ 3000. For South African volunteers, depending on your travel and accommodations choices, your minimum cost will vary between R 2000 and R 3000. Can I apply for a scholarship? Please note that volunteers will be asked to raise as much funding as possible on their own before seeking a scholarship, as scholarship funds are limited. How do I apply? If you are interested in serving as a Cape Town 2010 volunteer, please learn more about the available volunteer positions and then complete the online application using the button below.
