What is LCWE Diasporas?
The 21st Century has been marked by the greatest migration in world history.  People are not only resettling within their own countries, but people are being scattered to all four corners of the globe. U.N. experts estimate that there are close to 200 million international immigrants. People from every nation and tribe are moving because of regional conflicts and wars, devastating natural calamities, urbanization, labour related opportunities, educational advancement, etc. The scattering of the people (i.e. diaspora) poses challenges and opportunities to the global Church of Jesus Christ.

In 2004, LCWE included a Diaspora Issue Group that convened during the Lausanne 2004 Forum for World Evangelization in Pattaya, Thailand. Mr. Ram Gidoomal, Dr. Patrick Tsang, Mr. Leighton Chin, and Dr. T.V. Thomas led this issue group in producing the Lausanne Occasional Paper 55 Diasporas and International Students: The New People Next Door (PDF). In 2007, LCWE appointed a Senior Associate for Diasporas; and in 2008, the Lausanne Diasporas Leadership Team (LDLT) was assembled.
What is the LDLT?
  • We are a group of evangelical Christian leaders from different regions of the world who are part of the Lausanne Movement.
  • Our vision is to seek to motivate and mobilize the Body of Christ globally to reach the diaspora peoples for Christ; also to specifically mobilize Christians in the diaspora to reach their host nations.
  • We accomplish this vision by networking, equipping, empowering, partnering, researching, and resourcing.
  • Under the leadership of the Lausanne Committee for World Evangelization (LCWE) Senior Associate for Diasporas and the Lausanne Diasporas Leadership Team (LDLT) we serve as catalysts to achieve this vision.
  • LCWE Senior Associate for Diasporas is Dr. Sadiri Joy Tira
  • The LDLT includes: Dr. Jehu Hanciles, Dr. Elias Medeiros, Dr. Greg Young Paek, Rev. Khalil Said, Rev. Vergil Schmidt, Dr. T.V. Thomas, and Dr. Enoch Wan.
