During the Third Lausanne Congress on World Evangelization the Younger Leaders Team sponsored a Coffee Lounge (for more information, please see the video) and two dialogue sessions.
Intro video:
Cape Town 2010 participants were invited to participate in the following dialogue sessions:
The ‘Beyond Failure’ Dialogue Session proposed a discussion on the issue of failure in the context of Christian ministry. The corporate culture we live in creates an environment in which Christians in leadership positions are encouraged to cover up their failures as leaders and as servants of the Kingdom. The Gospel, on the other hand, approaches the admittance of failure as a gateway to encounter the grace of God and consequent healing. Without space for dialogue and transparency, we create a ministry culture based on the non-biblical values cited above. Christian ministry, in this sense, must propose a counterculture in terms of leadership development that questions the standard values of the marketplace as it influences the way we serve the Lord.
Great work is being done globally through older generation leaders and equally great work is being done through younger generation leaders. But for various reasons true intergenerational communication and cooperation is not happening as broadly or genuinely as we all hope. This dialogue session sought to address these various issues and collectively look for ways of engaging in a fruitful intergenerational conversation leading to cooperation to the effective furtherance of world evangelization.
Although the younger leaders had a good representation at the Congress in Cape Town, many others participated online and at GlobaLink sites around the world. Your voice is still needed!
