A Visit "Home" to Asia
31 March 2008

Greetings from Boston. Earlier this month I had the privilege of visiting church and ministry leaders in Asia. This trip to Asia came just after a week of meetings in Oxford, UK in preparation for Lausanne III: Cape Town 2010.
During my time in Asia, I met with pastors and church planters in Karuizawa, Japan and also met with 40 pastors in Kobe by teleconference. I was enthused to discover the leaders in Japan are well ahead in considering nominations for prospective participants for Cape Town 2010. It some sense returning to Japan was “coming home” for me. My family and I served as Asian Access missionaries to Japan for 20 years.
After enjoying Japan and my connections with leaders there, the following week I was part of a meeting with church leaders and leaders of the Korean Missions Association in Seoul, Korea. It was good to reconnect with Dr. Lee and the Korea Lausanne Committee. And as always, I thoroughly enjoyed the warm hospitality in Korea and remember it fondly.
Following my time in Korea, I met with 30 leaders from mainland China who were joined by Morley Lee, David Ro, Patrick Fung, Philemon Choi, and Dr. James Hudson Taylor, IV.
These meetings across Asia were filled with energy, passion and were greatly encouraging to me as I saw what the Lord is doing in this region of the world.
