At the 2004 Forum for World Evangelization, The Lausanne Movement introduced the concept of regionalizing the work of the Movement by appointing International Deputy Directors (IDD). Each IDD represents a geographical region of the world; regions that are often very diverse culturally and language-wise.
Lausanne’s International Director, Lindsay Brown, gives overall leadership to the IDD’s and also continues to be an active evangelist. With the support and encouragement of his wife, Ann, he has been developing the Fellowship of Evangelists in the Universities of Europe (FEUER) over the past four years. FEUR now includes over 40 evangelists in 18 countries.
Lindsay’s desire is to see effective witness bearing to the Gospel of Jesus Christ in every sphere of the communities of the world. His encouragement to the IDD’s is to constantly look for ways in which to develop this in a sensitive and culturally relevant way. Each IDD has responsibility for their particular region and seeks to bring leadership, vision, networking and general oversight with regard to world evangelization. The IDDs are volunteers and have a primary ministry alongside of Lausanne responsibilities.
