EUROPEAN EVANGELICALS MEET IN PORTUGAL
European Evangelicals meeting in October were challenged to live out their "true identities" as "Christian nobodies" by becoming God's catalysts for change. During their annual meeting in Tavira, Portugal, the European Christians also set an agenda for the future and welcomed new members. The four-day gathering in Tavira, Portugal focused on the theme, "Gospel Relevance in Europe Today," and gave the continent's top Evangelical leaders a chance to reflect, bond, pray, renew their faith, and share their stories. "Christendom is dead, and thank God," said Gordon Showell-Rogers, General Secretary of the European Evangelical Alliance, during the closing session of the joint EEA, European Evangelical Missionary Alliance (EEMA) and Hope for Europe conference. "Europe desperately needs God to visit us and for God’s people to live as God’s people." "As a group of evangelical Christian leaders, we have benefited greatly from being together and thinking about our respective responsibilities in Europe," said Showell-Rogers. "Our hope is that what's happened (here) might become strategic for the welfare of European society." Empowering Men and Women to use their gifts together in advancing the Gospel Let the whole church, take the whole Gospel, to the whole world! This challenge compels us to consider how men and women might develop and use their God-given gifts, revealing together, the Gospel of Christ. Missions and evangelism is the work of all of God’s people. Christian men and women have been gifted and called to serve, and now we ask; how do we work together? More than at any other time in history, Christians around the globe are rigorously examining the biblical message regarding gender and Christian service. As a result, there is a burgeoning of literature and discussion among evangelicals at a global level. Consequently, the Lausanne 2004 Forum for World Evangelization provided nearly fifty evangelical leaders, from more than a dozen countries, the opportunity to exchange ideas and identify ways men and women might together advance the Gospel. The Spirit worked mightily in our Issue Group while in Thailand, as we made two presentations from the main stage and offered the following declaration to the Church.
As the Church, we need to:

By Sarah Plummer, Intercessory Working Group, Oceania In Romans 8:22 we read "We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of child birth right up to this present time." The pains of child birth only intensify as the birth approaches and endurance and perseverance come because you look forward to what is to come. As we stand in Christ in this very context of the whole creation groaning, let us look forward with a living and sure hope of what is to come, the birth of the New Heaven and New Earth with Christ.
