We are eagerly looking forward to the Lausanne Bi-Annual Leadership Meeting in Budapest, 18-22 June. I am pleased to tell you that we now have over 300 leaders from 60 countries who will be attending. Please pray with us that God will guide and bless our time as we work together to advance the cause of world evangelization and the plans for Lausanne III: Cape Town 2010. The Lausanne Bi-Annual Leadership Meeting will be a wonderful time of interacting with our brothers and sisters around the world who share the vision of Lausanne for “the whole church taking the whole Gospel to the whole World.†The Budapest meeting is designed to gain input from every leader in attendance; as leaders share their thoughts, prayers and dreams for Lausanne and Lausanne III. Throughout our time together, it’s our desire to seek God’s heart for reaching our World with the Gospel. We’ll begin our focus everyday with a Bible reading from leaders such as Ajith Fernando (National Director of Youth for Christ, Sri Lanka), Lindsay Brown (Lausanne International Director and General Secretary of the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students, UK), Ivor Poobalan (Principal of Colombo Theological Seminary, Sri Lanka) and Charlie Hadjiev (a DPhil Student at Oxford University). Bishop Hwa Yung (The Methodist Church of Malaysia), Chairman of the Lausanne III Participant Selection Committee, will lead our discussion on choosing who will be invited to participate in Lausanne III onsite in Cape Town. Here’s a brief description of the book: “How and why is Christianity's center of gravity shifting to the developing world? To understand this rapidly growing phenomenon, Donald E. Miller and Tetsunao Yamamori spent four years traveling the globe conducting extensive on-the-ground research in twenty different countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Europe. The result is this vividly detailed book and accompanying DVD, which together contain the most comprehensive information available on Pentecostalism, the fastest-growing religion in the world. Rich with scenes from everyday life, the book and DVD dispel many stereotypes about this religion as they build a wide-ranging, nuanced portrait of a major new social movement. The three-day meeting of the Theological Commission will also feature a networking session at Westminister Theological Seminary (WTS) on 1 August, where the TC will meet with local theologians and other leaders to share information on current trends. This will take the form of a Symposium on the topic, “Theology and Ministry – obsolete or necessary?†The keynote speakers will be Dr. Peter Lillback, President of WTS and Dr. Dennis Cheek, Vice President, Education, Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation. Members of the TC’s global constituency will contribute insights from their own contexts in roundtable discussions. Dr. Rolf Hille, Chair of the WEA Theological Commission will give an update on TC ministry and activities, and introduce participants to ways in which they can be associated with its work. Attendance at TC-07 will include TC Commissioners, participants in its Global Membership scheme involving National Fellowships, seminaries and individual theologians and invited guests. Registration is necessary for the consultation and Symposium. There is no fee but participants will be invited to share in the costs of facilities and catering. Dr. Tetsunao “Ted†Yamamori, former International Director of the Lausanne Movement and a Lausanne Senior Advisor, will release a new book in September titled GLOBAL PENTECOSTALISM. 
Dr. Ronald Sider, head of the World Evangelical Alliance’s (WEA) initiative on civic engagement, will be a keynote speaker at the WEA Theological Commission’s (TC) annual session (TC-07) to be held in Philadelphia, USA 30 July–3 August. A one-day consultation on “providence and political involvement†will be held at Palmer (Eastern Baptist) Theological Seminary on 31 July, where Dr. Sider, a faculty member of the seminary, will speak. The second key-note speaker will be TC Member, Dr. Claus Schwambach of Brazil, and discussion will be led by Dr. Brian Edgar, Director of Public Theology for the Australian Evangelical Alliance.
