J. Patrick C. McDonald Bio PDF Print E-mail

Patrick McDonald is a leading global figure within Christian work amongst children at risk. He is a well-known writer and speaker on the issue, the founding director of Viva Network and the Senior Associate for Children at Risk for the Lausanne Movement. Having dappled in freelance journalism and photography and worked during his youth as a university ornithologist ( Copenhagen), he began his career in a street children project in Bolivia. This led to the conviction that the Christian movement had a real role to play in policy creation and service delivery and yet needed a vehicle able to ensure basic coordination and collaboration around common goals of standards and quality. Viva Network was developed in response to that need and today operates in 48 countries connecting more than 4000 organisations helping 1.8 million children. Patrick worships at St Aldates Church, Oxford and is married to Emily. They have three sons, Isaac, Lukas and Benjamin.
