Lausanne provides a place for strategic theological discussion on the major issues affecting the Body of Christ and global evangelization. Since 1974, leaders have come together under The Lausanne Covenant to debate and discuss issues ranging from ministering to specific ethnic groups to evangelism and social responsibility.
Most recently, leaders who participated in the 2004 Forum for World Evangelization have produced more than 30 Lausanne Occasional Papers (LOPs). The LOPs include an overview of the issue (including a theological exposition) as well as case studies and strategies for the church to address the matter. LOP topics include, among others, the importance of ministering to children, holistic evangelism, the persecuted church, empowering men and women in ministry, reconciliation, bioethics, and prayer evangelism.
