A Visit "Home" to Asia PDF Print E-mail

Greetings from Boston.  Earlier this month I had the privilege of visiting church and ministry leaders in Asia.  This trip to Asia came just after a week of meetings in Oxford, UK in preparation for Lausanne III: Cape Town 2010.

During my time in Asia, I met with pastors and church planters in Karuizawa, Japan and also met with 40 pastors in Kobe by teleconference.  I was enthused to discover the leaders in Japan are well ahead in considering nominations for prospective participants for Cape Town 2010.  It some sense returning to Japan was “coming home” for me.  My family and I served as Asian Access missionaries to Japan for 20 years.

After enjoying Japan and my connections with leaders there, the following week I was part of a meeting with church leaders and leaders of the Korean Missions Association in Seoul, Korea.  It was good to reconnect with Dr. Lee and the Korea Lausanne Committee.  And as always, I thoroughly enjoyed the warm hospitality in Korea and remember it fondly.

Following my time in Korea, I met with 30 leaders from mainland China who were joined by Morley Lee, David Ro, Patrick Fung, Philemon Choi, and Dr. James Hudson Taylor, IV.

These meetings across Asia were filled with energy, passion and were greatly encouraging to me as I saw what the Lord is doing in this region of the world.

Dear Brother ,

Having had the previlige to be a part of the previous Lausanne conference at Thailand , I look forward to the 2010 conference in CT .

I wish the conference all success . But I sincerely wish that only leaders who will take this movement down to the grass roots , alone be given key responsiblities .The Indian contingent in the last conference could not take the movement down to grass roots in India , because it was not in the right hands , as far as India was concerned .

I request you to form a small team for each country consisting of people who - ' breath evangelism ' . They will ensure that the spirit of evangelism is taken to the length & breadth of their respective countries .

Usually big names are given prominence in these conferences & nothing happens thereafter . All that is spent goes down the drain , as far as deveoping nations like India are concerned .

I write this with genuine concern to see something happen as a result of the conference .

My desire and longing is to see this movement catch up in India ,as an unifying factor and which will consolidate the evangelism work in India .

I offer my help to the Lausanne movement in this regard.

With love & prayers ,
