Francophone Africa

Africa is arguably the most diverse continent in the world. It represents nearly 2,000 languages, and is home to the largest number of French speakers in the world. There are over twenty African countries where French is the official language, including the second largest African country, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and the smallest African country, the Seychelles. The three biggest challenges faced by Francophone Africa are political instability and corruption, armed conflicts and Jihaist threats, and poverty and social inequality.

Despite these challenges, Christianity in Africa is growing at a rapid rate and in the last decades has recognised their own contribution as a mission resource and not merely a mission receiver. With the shift in the centre of Christianity to the majority world, Africa is an important launching point for sending workers and a think tank for missions issues. Aiding that important calling, Lausanne plays an important role in assisting to address critical issues of our day (discipleship, evangelism, justice, diaspora, orality, poverty, and more), and provide a platform for collaboration. Welcome from Our Regional Directors

Pray for our work in Francophone Africa

  1. Prioritise Discipleship – Pray for discipleship to be prioritised in the church and for men and women of God to be raised as leaders who fear God and do not succumb to personal or material gain.
  2. Battling against spiritual attack – Pray that we might be equipped with the armour of God as we battle spiritual attack and engage in spiritual warfare in this region.
  3. Encouragement and protection – Pray that the church would be encouraged knowing that Christ is able to protect us from falling, and to present us blameless and with much joy before his glorious presence. (Jude 24)
