Joni Eareckson Tada leads Joni and Friends, accelerating Christian outreach among the disabled worldwide. She is the author of many bestselling books and is an internationally known advocate for persons with disabilities. Joni served on the National Council on Disability under two US presidents and on the US State Department’s Disability Advisory Committee.
Joni was a plenary speaker in 1989 at the Second Lausanne Congress on World Evangelization in Manila. She was appointed as the Lausanne Senior Associate for Disability Concerns and served in this role until 2013. She convened 36 global disability ministry leaders for the 2004 Lausanne Forum for World Evangelization in Thailand. The resulting Lausanne Occasional Paper, ‘Ministry among People with Disabilities’ (LOP 35B), serves as a standard for international models of disability ministry. Joni is a member of the Board for the Lausanne Movement.
