As Founder and CEO of The New York City Leadership Center, Rev Dr McKenzie ‘Mac’ Pier seeks to catalyze Christian leaders to impact their city by addressing the spiritual and social issues facing our cities today. Mac’s desire is to see the birth of citywide ‘Gospel Movements’ that will grow into solid, mature networks that measurably transform the lives of its most vulnerable citizens. To that end, the annual Movement Day Congress was established to accelerate collaboration, new ideas, and action steps to serve the world’s major urban centers. Movement Day Greater Dallas was the first successful replication of this congress, with 12 additional cities seeking to do the same. As Senior Associate for Cities with the Lausanne Movement, Mac is using his influence to help equip global networks of urban ministry practitioners, Christian marketplace leaders, and pastors to serve their cities for Christ’s glory.
Dr Pier is co-author of The Power of a City at Prayer, and author of Spiritual Leadership in the Global City, and Consequential Leadership. Mac earned his Master of Arts degree in religion from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and his doctorate at Palmer Theological Seminary (formerly Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary). He is the founder and former president of Concerts of Prayer Greater New York which has served to strengthen and unite pastors and advance a culture of prayer for revival across the New York City Metro area over the last 30 years. He and his wife Marya have three adult children and two grandchildren.
