Michael Cassidy

Dr Michael Cassidy, founder of African Enterprise (AE), has been deeply involved in evangelism, teaching, and leadership ministries since 1962, the year he launched AE in South Africa. Today AE has evangelistic teams in Congo (DRC), Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zimbabwe.

Michael was part of the initial planning meeting for the First International Congress on World Evangelization. He also served on the Advisory Council and as chair of the Mission Committee for the 2010 Third Lausanne Congress on World Evangelization in Cape Town, South Africa. In 2012 the Lausanne Movement board of directors unanimously approved the appointment of Cassidy as honorary chair of the Movement.

In addition to his work with Lausanne, Michael has been widely involved in calling together several other major gatherings of church leaders, including the South African Christian Leadership Assembly (SACLA) in 1979 and SACLA 2 in 2003, both held in Pretoria. Michael has also written many books; his latest on John chapter 17 is titled The Church Jesus Prayed For. He is currently writing his memoirs.

Michael and his wife, Carol, live in Hilton, near Pietermaritzburg in South Africa. They have two daughters, a son, and eight grandchildren.
