Oxford, UK 18 October 2012: The Lausanne Movement has established its own publishing imprint, The Lausanne Library. This imprint will be used for core titles which relate to the life and ministry of the Movement. Central to the Movement is The Cape Town Commitment, of which Christopher J H Wright (Langham Partnerships) served as chief architect. This month sees the publication of a Cape Town Commitment Study Edition by Rose Dowsett, and of Christ our Reconciler, the formal record of The Third Lausanne Congress on World Evangelization: Cape Town 2010.
‘Christ our Reconciler is a critical book for strategists in the Church,’ explains Julia Cameron, its editor, who serves as Lausanne’s Director of Publishing. ‘It gives voice to some of the sharpest thinking the evangelical Church has to offer on critical issues facing our generation’ She described The Cape Town Commitment Study Edition as ‘intelligent, theological, and with searching application questions.’
The Lausanne Movement, founded by Billy Graham, held its Third Lausanne Congress on World Evangelization in Cape Town, South Africa, in October 2010. The Movement’s purpose is to unite evangelicals to collaborate for world evangelization, and it has seen hundreds of new, creative partnerships emerge to this end. Michael Cassidy, founder of African Enterprise, has succeeded the late John Stott as its Honorary Chair.
The decision to found a publishing imprint represents the Movement’s desire to serve the Church by providing seminal thinking for mission leaders, pastors, reflective practitioners in the public arenas, students and educators. Lausanne’s book publishing will complement the extensive material available on the Movement’s website (lausanne.org).
